Animals in Arenal, Costa Rica

Updated: Dec 1, 2020

Feast your eyes on the land of nature. Costa Rica abolished its military in 1948 and since then has prospered peacefully, and built its wellbeing by preserving its natural environment, animals, and plants. Pura Vida, or pure life, is the way this country and its people run themselves. I studied in the jungles there, and lived in the homes of the people. Kindness, generosity, and laughter. These are the most common traits.

The wild animals are unique, colorful, slow, and funny.

We begin just outside of the capital city San Jose, and watch as city gives way to jungle, or rather, as jungle takes over.

Filled with all forms of life, Costa Rica is a world of living color. The artwork walks, hops, and flies in this country.

Watch the video above to get a glimpse of the astonishing creatures inhabiting the Arenal Region of Costa Rica, and learn about how they live such fascinating lives.

Arenal is famous for its volcano covered in plants and animals. It is a few hours drive north of San Jose in the city La Fortuna.

If you are lucky enough to visit Costa Rica, this location is a must see!

Isaac Yelchin is foremost a herpetologist. He studies lizards, frogs, newts, and the like. Specifically, he spends all day and night thinking about what it is like to be an animal. What are the animals thinking about? What is their perspective? When he should be working, he sits and stares at his pet lizard asking himself these questions.
