PRESS RELEASES

The Havasi Wilderness Foundation of Agoura Hills will be having their first fundraiser on September 15, 2011, at the Four Seasons Resort and Spa in Westlake Village.

The founders of this nonprofit, Sandor Havasi and Marilyn Takahashi Fordney, are inviting their most valued supporters, colleagues, relatives, friends, prominent state and local leaders, and a film celebrity Guest of Honor, Tippi Hedren, from Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds.” The fundraiser will consist of a cocktail reception with buffet dinner and music provided by the Ace of Hearts Entertainment. The dinner and program will take place in the beautiful Hampton’s Restaurant that opens into the waterfall lawn. There will be silent and live auctions and a raffle.

This foundation supports funding to schools so students will have transportation for field trips to state, national, and regional parks. Some schools integrate curricula so their students can learn about the ecosystem and wildlife but have lost their funds to continue to offer this. Such opportunities give students the chance to hike, explore, and interact with nature so they receive further education, awareness, and appreciation about wildlife animals and plants. Today many children suffer from obesity and have limited outdoor exposure. This type of activity encourages students at a young age to become conscious and learn to respect the environment thus promoting better health and becoming more active.
